In Nashville Dance Collective’s third evening-length dance concert - the 2025 Spring Split Bill - our ever-growing community of dance artists come together to present another two-act show featuring completely new works from Satellite Dance and NDC, as well as the debut of a new local dance performance group from MOVE Inclusive Dance!
NDC themselves are premiering “SELF:” - a trio of “almost punk” contemporary dance works driven by alt dance rock music. While catchy lyrics worm into your ears, the dancers thrash on chairs, play with plastic, and endure simple, ominous introspection. They bring movement not trying to answer, but express: Who do I see in my reflection? Who do others see? What made me who I am? Was it them or me? Whose mirror are you using? What do YOU see when YOU look? WHO IS IN CONTROL?... Questions that always seem to end up dangling in uncomfortable places.

ACT 1
SELF: REFLECTION
REFLECTION swings the onstage energy from exaggerated meltdowns to pure, stoic defiance. Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror (or your smartphone screen you accidentally locked) and thought, “Am I the only one?”, “Why is everybody so mad at me?”, or, “How the hell will I float?”. The dancers jump in and out of these questions through oscillating dance scenes of upbeat introspection, authoritative flailing, and helping hands that don’t have the answers either…

ACT 2
SELF: MADE
MADE is an experimental (this means fun!) landscape of plastic (yay, stuff!) that bring the dancers (ooooh, dolls!) face to face with more questions (love, love, LOVE a personality quiz!) about what we choose to like, what we’re told to like, and how the lines between those options blur over time, but never quite disappear…

ACT 3
SELF: CONTROL
